New install of solidworks 2010. I go to start program and the logo flashes then goes away and program does not start. What do I need to do. Have 20 machines in my CAD lab at school. First time using solidworks. We have switched from Autodesk products. to the CAD Academy.

Thanks for your reply. I will pass this on to the IT person. We are running stand alone, not network, and we have given permissions to the students to be able to have full acces to the c drive where solidworks is installed. The drawing files are stored on a network drive.

I am the technician who works with George and just wanted to say that I know this has to be some kind of a rights issue. The program open just fine for me as an administrator, but will not run for a regular user. I went into the documents and settings/all users/application data/ solidworks folder and gave full permissions to all users on that folder. I also gave them full permissions on the server for both of the solidworks folders.

I do not know if you saw my post or not. We do use a license file server for solidworks and it works for administrators, but not for regular users.
Can you confirm is the users have a network license which means that there is single license file on a common server and user machine will pick license to run SolidWorks from there.
If those are standalone machines then make sure you activated them properly. For more information or support, check Student Software Support
I found out what the problem is, but do not know what I must do to solve it. We have a policy in place that does not allow students to save to the computers hard drive. If I give them full control permissions they can open and run SolidWorks.
There must be a files in SolidWorks that they need full control of to run it.
Can you tell me what file(s) they need full control on? I believe THAT would solve the problem.

Elliot not sure if such file(s) exist because SW is all windows driven. So how about assigning some read/write option on a particular folder/location on C or D drive
George welcome to the SW forums.
There can be lot of reasons for it. Are you running the SW network license then make sure you have the server set right and running.
For standalone (which I believe is not a case in your lab), make sure you activated the licenses properly.
The issue can be related to how installation was done, did you disabled the anti virus while installation.
