So I have a prospective customer essentially cold call me by sending an email looking for an RFQ on some tooling they require.  When I open the zip file I discover they've sent all their data in CADPART file format.  I know this is a Catia file fomat and the their cousin SolidWorks can't open them, but for interest I want to find out which version it is.  So I Google the file extension, and lo and behold it is a Catia V5 file format and guess what other software can open CADPART files, Autodesk 2011!  So the competion of Dassault can open Catia files but not there own product family.  I know part of this is Dassault doesn't want and pardon the analogy, the Lincoln level CAD data to be opened by the Ford division CAD Software, but it still irks me to no end whenever this comes up.
