I'm trying to take ProE files and open them and pull them apart with Solid Works, It's missing the references though, it doesn't open anything at all when I try to open the ProE parts and assemblies. Any suggestions??
Which version of Pro/E?
Which Pro/E file formats?
Which version of SW?
Can you ZIP and post the Pro/E files?
The ProE files are coming from a fairly large company, I believe they have the newest version of ProE. I'm trying to take the ProE files and use Solid Works to pull them apart to get BOM's and information in general, so It'd be Assembly and part files for sure. I'm using Solid Works 2010 basic, I don't have the authority to post the files unfortunately, the files I got from them are .prt and .asm
when and if you get the native ProE to open in SW, they will come in as dumb solids, no smarts or dims, just a file name and solid blob, no features.
yes they say you can get a feature tree, but usally works on simple parts if there is and free form shapes it usally fails and you have to bring it in without feature rec.
thats why I said have them send you a step file of there assembly and they open that it would be much quicker, but again if it is a very large assembly it could stall your system if you don't have enough ram or processor speed.
export step files.................the open proe is hit and miss
The Pro/E version they're using is WF5, which isn't supported by SolidWorks 2010. Thanks for the help!
