I am looking to wrap a sketch on to a currved surface in an assembly. It works fine in a part file however I need it to be an assembly feature.
Any suggestions/hints greatfully accepted.
As you noted, it is a part feature. Why does it need to be an Assembly Feature? Are you wrapping more than one part at a time?
If not, then you might consider a configuration on the part that you need this on.
If more than one part being wrapped at a time, I can think of nothing pretty to do so.
Save the Assembly as a Part, do the wrap, then save the bodies off again. You lose everything but have the end product.
The thinking behind it is to show a graphical representation for location and orientation of a strain gauge, without having to create a part file to suit that particular mating surface.
I agree with Alan in that create a configuration and on one config the wrap is
shown and the other it is suppressed. Toggle between the 2 as needed.
You could also consider using a virtual component. Create it, use "offset surface" on the surface with the strain gauge, and then just wrap onto that (all inside the VC). This method will give you quicker rebuild times than using multiple configurations of a part file. (Although Alan's method is what I've typically done in the past)
