I can't find any solution for this.
I have a sheetmetal part (Original.png) and made a mirrored part. The mirrored part looks ok till I insert bends to create a flat pattern. There are no errors in features after that but some features are vanished.
Can you create the mirrored part after creating the bends in the original part?
Can you post the part to experiment with?
I must mention that we use SW2008 sp 5.0
Here is the part.
Original part is a sheetmetal and it has all the bends before mirror part operation.
Go to Insert menu, sheetmetal, convert to sheetmetal. You need to tell SolidWorks its actually a sheetmetal featured part to be able to flatten.
This method is for when you create another part file by using insert, mirror part. Effectively getting 2 part files, the original and the mirror.
Sorry if I am missing something but if you already have the part as folded sheetmetal part why are you adding bends after the mirror.
I selected the top edge of the part to mirror the body and the only change I had to make was to suppress chamfer4 on the 1st config.
Sorry its in SW2010 but here a couple of screen shots.
Shot 3 shows the face I used to mirror the part
Shot 4 shows where I cut-extruded the mirrored part
Thank you Michael,
But I'm talking about create a new mirrored part not a body. SW 2008 not accept multi body in sheetmetal.
(Menu) Insert->Mirror Part...
In the mirrored part I need bends because I want to obtain flat-pattern. I know that flat-pattern is identical with original part but if I want to add fetures in mirrored part the flat-pattern is different.
That is what I have tried to show on the screen shots.
I would normally make this part as a new config.
I would select a edge face, select bodies to mirror ( click on part ), select merge solids.
You will now have double looking part.
Just cut-extrude the original part off and now you have the mirrored part to add holes etc as required.
The sad thing is I just removed SW2008 last week or I could have done it on that
Now I understood what you say.
Yes, this is a workaround but in our environment (PDMEnterprise) there are some rules about part numbers and files.
It must be a diferent file.
Ahhh ---- Rules & regs hope they don't start that here
