I have been working on a design table all morning only to restart SW and find that it won't open anymore. The design table is showing up in the configurations list, but when I right-click on it, it doesn't give me the option to open it. When I select the Design Table button, it gives me the prompt to add a design table. If I add a new design table, there are then two in the configurations list. Any suggestions would be great.
I've had the same problem a couple times, and I've seen several others report the same problem on this forum.
In my case it was pretty easy to create a new design table using the automatic table create option. I now show 2 design tables in the tree - they both open the same. If I delete one of them, the other goes back to being un-editable.
Would be interesting to see if your VAR could fix it.

I haven't seen or heard anything about a fix.
Lately, I don't spend a lot of time using SW, and haven't had the problem reoccur, so I'm not sure if there's any fix available.

We ran into the same issue and had to go get a backup copy of the file. Never did find a way to fix the one that suddenly went bad.

I've sent the assembly to the VAR, "This has got to be a bug" was the response. It has happened twice today, and since the assembly was started this morning, there is no backup. The blank design table is still there, but uneditable. The configurations have kept their properties, thankfully, but the table was being used to efficiently edit the assembly. Will post if I get a viable answer from someone.

"I see the issue, what is the customer looking to have us do here? Was the original design table different from what is shown when they create the new one?
Are they looking for an explanation? If so there is really not much that I can tell them it appears to be a corruption of some kind but there is no way to tell how it happned."
I was hoping to find out how to avoid the problem in the future, doesn't look like that's possible with this particular problem.
Yep I've seen this in a model of an editable spring I downloaded from the user library.
It behaved exactly like Don Eva's post.
It looks like it's not confined to one corrupted file and IMHO SolidWorks should look into this more.

I know I am a little late to this party, but when I have encountered errors/issues
with my design tables (specifically in 2010, haven't seen this in 2011 yet) it was
a windows office error and restarting the SW session fixed it. Another thing to look into
is if you go to where your office directory (start>all programs>office) there is a diagnostic
program that if you run that it will fix a lot of these issues as well.
