Problems with corners using the Hem feature

Question asked by Shawn Lesley on Sep 3, 2010

I've got one for you guys.  We make doors for our units by using the hemming feature in solidworks.  It's pretty much a flat panel with hems on 3 sides and then a hinge feature on the fourth.  The problem is that we sometimes get complaints from our customers about the corners not being sharp.  Below is an example of what I'm talking about (Top Picture).  What I'm after is for this corner to be sharp.  This is possible by manually filling in the corner notch that Solidworks adds to the flat pattern.  The problem is that I can't figure out how to get it to do this automatically.  I'm not even sure if it can because this is an interference situation and it doesn't like that very much.  I've been playing with sketch bends rather than the hem feature and I can get an acceptable flat pattern this way.  The problem is that the model is not exactly correct doing it this way (Bottom Picture).
