I saw mention of soemthing called shadowcast that will create a "hard shadow" on the floor. Am I stating this correctly? How do I enable this?
Shadow catchers is a term used by Luxology (makers of 360 and it's big brother Modo401) and it indeed exists in PV360, mostly by default depending on what environment you choose - some environments include it some don't but rather have a different version of it called a floor reflection. There is nothing unique about it and PW has been doing something similar for years. It's actually an illusion more than anything in that what's happening is that a shadow is being cast from the object in the direction of the key light (in the case of 360, there isn't really a key light but rather the light source'/s in the HDR image determines the direction of the shadow) and throw onto a transparent lay that represents the "UP' direction or in other words the "floor" and the environmental image is seen thru it. This give the illusion that the object is actually sitting on the floor of the environment when in actually there is no floor in the environment.
