I have an assembly, I want to change all the parts to virtual components. All of the parts are allowed to change except the toolbox parts. An error is displayed stating that "Toolbox parts cannot be changed to virtual components". Is there a setting somewhere that will allow the change?

I'm not a Toolbox user, but I believe that Toolbox parts have a property called "Fastner" or "Isfastener" or something like that. Try removing that property, or setting its value to 0 or something along those lines.

Thanks for the reply. I tried getting rid of the properties, did not help. I have also tried saving part as a copy, eliminating equations, eliminating all properties, inserting before and after making the other parts virtual, all to no avail. Will keep poking around.

Quick and dirty: Save them as STEP, reinsert the dummy models.

Another duct tape, dirty, cheap shot "broken bottle to the face" trick is to
insert the toolbox item into another part. Then take that part, insert it into your
assy, and make it Virtual.

Or another cleaner, simpler way of doing it is to make an assembly (sub-assy) in your assy.
Then drag all the bolts into that assy, maintaining all of your toolbox items positions and locations in the model.
Then seperateley open that new assembly, and save it as a PART. (This way all of your positions get saved as well)
Then insert that new part (assy with bolts) into your main assy, position it using a coordinate mate, and make it virtual.
This way you don't have to re-position all your hardware.

the property is that flags the part as a toolbox part is not a normal custom property. there is a a small app or macro or something for removing it that is supposed to be somewhere in you SW installation. I've never used it, just read about it.
