If I make a long thin part designed to be wrapped around something else (in this case, the frame of the new iPhone), is there a way in SW to make that long thin part wrap around the phone after it's made? Or, better yet, is there a way to take a part that matches the outside of the iPhone, and split it to straighten it out?
Basically what I'm trying to do in the long run is to machine a piece of material out that will wrap around the frame of the iPhone4, with holes for the buttons and everything. So naturally, I'd need a flat profile to start with, but at the same time would really like to know if it's going to look decent before actually making the thing. So in the end, I need a flat profile of this part, that can actually be wrapped around the phone. Flat, because I need to bring it into mastercam to get the toolpaths for the mill, and wrapped around to make sure it fits first.
I see the "wrap" feature, but I'm not entirely sure how to use that in this case (or at all)
I'm using one of the models from 3DCC for reference, and probably for rendering in the long run.
