Two questions for all you simulaitonists...
1. Is there a way to take bring a file into solidworks to give motion to an assembly. I want to define the motion of the hydrolic pistons of our simulator to simulate its motion.
2. I have seen some videos where people incorporate momentum and reaction forces to there motion simulations. How is this done? a good example is the trebuchet in the following thread.

thanks,

Hi Mike,
yes like the videos of the post you linked to it's not that difficult to run motion studies in SolidWorks. There a very good tutorial under "Help -> SolidWorks Tutorials" then choosing "All SolidWorks Tutorials (Set 2) -> SolidWorks Motion". Doing this tutorial will give you a good introduction to using some of the features of the Motion Manager.
Any further to that Motion is a topic covered by resellers in their training courses but you can also get a couple of books one of the best being on Rob Rodriguez's site http://robrodriguez.com/wordpress/?p=1067
Once you're comfortable in the environment theres lots of interesting things you can do to create animations for presentations and simulations of your designs taking into account things like gravity, contact, motors etc.
You work through a similar trebuchet when doing the SolidWorks Motion course at the resellers!
I hope this helps.
