I have an assembly file with some part files (example 15 part files). I would like to make another assembly that consist of example 10 part files and to keep the mates which I have in the first assembly.
Can anybody help me?

Sure. Just use pack'n'go on the assembly file to copy selected files (or the whole file set) in a different folder. Also, if you use the Find/Replace Button in the pack'n'go command you can rename files if you need (and in that case you can create new files even in the original folder).

If so tag all ov ther parts for the assembly you want to make and RC
select the down arrows at the bottom of the menu to expand the menu and select the following:

Glad I could help.
In your model tree you will see a generic Solidworks assembly name.
RC on the assembly and bring it into a new window. Do a "Save As" and rename it.
This will rename it in your mother assembly.
Make sure you DON'T check "Save as copy"
because that will save it as a seperate file and leave the one in your mother assy untouched.
