I have a mate reference in a part that is active only in one configuration. If i select another configuration of the part, the mate reference is greyed out and is not active in an assembly.
Is this how mate references are supposed to be?

Thanks for your replies. Right clicking on the mate reference doesn't work for me. The supress/unsupress button is not there. I figured out what does work. Right click and then open the properties of the mate reference definition. Then you can supress/unsuppress it. I don't think that the help topic on mate references addresses this at all.
You can also use a configuration table to do them all without opening each config, You will need to double click the reference feature not the mate refereance folder.
mate references are "features" of the part. so they follow your setting on whether to be suppressed or not in other previously created configs - same as other features. you can right click on the mate reference in any config and suppress/unsuppress it.
