Why you need to do that??
i'd rather hold ctrl for rotate. if im zoomed in and want to move fast i just want to use the mmb like autocad. it's really frustrating. everyone within 30 feet of me agrees.
You can create a keyboard shortcut for the pan tool and the rotate tool. You can create shortcuts by going to Tools>Customize>Keyboard. Do a search for "view" to narrow it down to the view category.
You do NOT want to add keyboard shortcuts for CTRL and ALT though, as those keys are used all over the User Interface for various options.
As with Deepak, I am a little confused about your request. Are you saying that in Autocad the CTRL and ALT key functionality are reversed from SolidWorks, and you just want SW to behave like Autocad?
mmb = rotate
ctrl + mmb = pan
mmb = pan
ctrl + mmb = rotate
does anyone know how to do this?
why? it's what im used to and easier because i still use autocad just as much.
I don't believe it is possible.
You can change the zoom direction under Tools>Options>System Options>View. If there was an option to reverse rotation/pan I would assume that it would be under this header.
Have you tried adjusting your mouse driver settings? If you have a non-generic mouse, there might be options to thinker with in the Control Panel. Pretty much you want to tell your mouse to assign different actions to its buttons.
