Within the vault we include PDF creation on a file checkin. Right clicking enables us to view and print the PDF file individually.
We need to send out to a supplier the part files for an assembly and also the PDF drawings. When we check the assembly out we can obtain all references but not the PDF files.
Is there a way for us to ensure the PDF file comes out with the assembly on a check out?

Nice sample, this is exactly what I had in mind. It would also then be possible to add a sub routine to traverse the children of the specified filename to get their pdfs as well.

No, there is no way to include the pdfs when copying a file out of the vault. There is an API call available to get a copy of the pdf but there is no good way to trigger that action. An custom application could be written where a user could specify a filename and the app would extract the pdfs for that file and all of its children. A more automated approach would be to have an application that is always running in the background using the filesystemwatcher and for every drawing that shows up in a folder or its subfolders, the app could then grab the associated pdf. You could specify an export directory in the app's parameters where when you want to send files to a customer you would copy from Workgroup into a branch of that export folder. In this way, pdfs would not be getting copied to your working directory all the time during normal use of Workgroup.
Please submit an enhancement request for an option to inluce PDFs when copying drawings locally.
