We want to transfer years and years of solidworks files into a vault. Currently all of our toolbox hardware is used as configurations, not copied parts.
Based on what I've read, I'm thinking that using copied parts outside the vault is the way to go.
My questions are:
1) Is it even possible to use configurtions of hardware in a vault scenario? If it is are there any issues to be aware of?
2) Is there a way to switch MANY assembles automatically to copied parts?
Thanks
Is it possible to take ownership of all these hardware parts through an advanced search? I don't know how you'd isolate them.
But if you could, run them all thru the set doc prop exe to set their properties to 'no' -its now not a toolbox part, save and check-in, they would then able to be revised. You would revise the screw dozens of times if it contains dozens of configurations.
We copy them out of toolbox to one file for one piece of hardware, file contains no configurations. Run it thru the .exe to chg to "no" not a toolbox prt, then check in with the rest of an assembly as regular parts.
