I use SolidWorks student edition which is installed in my PC with toolbox but keep on showing the error message whenever I start SolidWorks software; ERROR: Could not find resource dll for Toolbox
Does anyone knows how to solve this problem?
If you look in your installation folder (something like Program Files/SolidWorks Corp/SolidWorks/), you'll find a toolbox folder inside. In that folder, there should be a "lang" folder, with one or more language folders. This is where the toolbox resource dll lives. Are you running SW in english? If so, you should find a toolbox/lang/english/ToolboxResu.dll file.
Thank you for your reply, I did follow your instruction and found the "lang" folder in "SolidWorks folder" on my C drive but did not find the resource dll for toolbox in the folder. I attached a screen shot of what I found in the "lang" folder. Please what else should I do? You can reply through my email address at email@example.com.
Alternatively, can I get the ToolboxResu.dll file from you and where will I paste it?
Also when I click on "All Programs" > SolidWorks 2009 > SolidWorks Tools > Toolbox Setting, I get the message : "Failed to open database, error: Cannot set owner property to itself" . What does the error message means and how can I solve this problem?
It sounds like there is some sort of installation problem. The error you are seeing from Toolbox Settings means it cannot find the toolbox database. Even if you had the toolbox resource dll, it's apparent that toolbox would still not work because it cannot find the database.
I would recommend first trying to "repair" your installation (in control panel, programs). If that doesn't help, you may have to uninstall and reinstall solidworks.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled SolidWorks including the Toolbox but still the problem persists.
What can I do next?
Get in contact with solidworks support here - I'm not certain what the issue is.
Thank you for the SolidWorks link. I have contacted them.
The two error messages I get now when SolidWorks starts are:
First one - "ERROR: Could not load resource dll for Toolbox" and when I click OK, I get the
Second one - "Unable to initialize the Add-In Component"
I will appreciate your suggestion towards this issue.
I know i'm way out of date, but here's the answer anyway (i've upgraded my SW to v.2015 and had the mentioned issue):
It's just a language thing. My OS works with spanish standards (time, currency, etc), but i installed the English version of SW, leaving all the references, resources and file paths to lang\spanish folder. This also happened to my "toolbox" folder.
To get the problem fixed (quick way), i've just copied all files on my "Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\Toolbox\lang\english" folder, created a new folder "spanish", then pasted the copied files. That's all, worked like a charm.
It didn't work for me. Any help?
I'm experiencing the same issue, Even tried to repair and does not allow me to choose that option in the reapir
Yo have to do it manually. Just follow my instructions.
Hello Thomas, thank you for taking time to reply. I did notice you threat and tried it with no luck. But something I notice is that the actual drawings are kept somewhere else. C:\SolidWorks Data\browser location. all my files are there from my previous version. Solidworks from some reason is not recognizing the location.
I see, but that's another problem. You can set the location of your new content editing its paths on Tools -> Options -> File Locations (on dropdown menu for each category)
