I am running SW 2010 and my question is, is there a way to set SW to auto-rotate to the normal when you select a sketching plane? When I choose the sketching plane, I would like if it would automatically rotate to be normal to that plane.
You could hit Ctrl 8, but other than that you need to submit an ER for that function.
Yeh it is pretty odd it only does the normal deal for the first sketch in a new part, of course this has been discussed here before, anyway, I vote for it
I actually prefer the sketch plane to be slightly askew.
...much like your point of view. Since I don't like two-button combinations for hotkeys I changed Normal-To to a single key (B).
I've read your Facebook comments and The Missing Piece
... and you call my point of view askew ?
Guily as charged.
I for one veto the auto normal to sketch plane, the reason is you can get unwanted automatic relations to thing that you didn't want because you are in wireframe or have allow selection in HLR and shaded mode on. 80% of the time I sketch in ISO view that allows me to select more faces, edges, verticies to start from or end to, create planes and other items I need. for as many that would want normal to all the time there are may more that don't....I know I've taught SW at the VAR and communtiy college and the university. It's breaking the drawing paper habit or the ACAD 2D world. Like others have said make yourself a hotkey "N" or put in an enhansment request for a check box for always on or off.
this has been little bit annoying for me as well, so here's VERY simple macro to handle it in one way. You can design your own buttons for it :-)
1. select face
2. press macro button
-> new sketch is opened for the selected face and view is turned NORMAL TO and FIT TO ALL. I even tested this couple times with 2009 :-)
