i am at a loss trying to figure out how PV 360, Photoworks and SW use appearances. can anyone clue me in on a sound procedure for placing appearances s.t. they show up in pv 360?
Yes, you're right; PV appearances (when PV session is saved) override RV/PW appearances. This methology is built on the workflow for SW users that are using PV as there primary rendering solution. The intended workflow depends on whether you're using PW or PV.
Your confusion is duly noted and we are in the final season of a migration of PV back into core SW which should greatly alleviate this confusion because you'll be applying one appearance for RV and PV simultaneously (PW appearances will be gone.)
You might find my session from SolidWorks World helpful. http://robrodriguez.com/wordpress/?page_id=548 You'll want the first one PhotoView 360: Instant Images.
Also might find the videos here helpful www.solidworksgallery.com
thanks rob, will check it out.
Since SW2009 (when PV was introduced) all the appearance information of both RealView, PhotoWorks and Photoview is built into the SolidWorks Part or Assembly file. If you choose to save a PhotoView session, Photoview appearances overwrite SolidWorks and PhotoWorks appearances. this was done for SW user using PV as his rendering solution of choice and so concurrent design and engineering changes to the SW part/assembly could occur without having to reassign/reattach PV appearances every time a geometric change was made in SW.
i guess what is very confusing is that there are three ways to apply appearancesand PV 360 overulesall other settings if saved.
thus, any save performed in PV360 wipse out the realview or photoworks appearances correct?does this only have at the leve of the assembly that is open in PV360 or does it trickle down to the part.i will welcom the day when there is only one way to apply appearancescuz managing these is a PITA for sure.
ps what the heck is wrong with this editor? cursor position is always
