i had imported a butterfly valve from a company and all was working well for a few weeks, today the main body dissappeared. the valve handle and inside of the valve are still there. what causes this and how do i fix it quickly.
There have been a number of post on this subject reporting similar behaviour. SolidWorks also has a number of SPRs on this issue, although it doesnt hurt for you to report it to your VAR, in case you are running into something unique.
As far as a solution goes, the most common solution is to expand the SOLID BODIES folder, and then right click on your missing body, and do a series of HIDE/SHOW commands. It might already appear as shown, and if so, HIDE it, and then SHOW it again.
I have also had success in rolling the model back to the point where this body seems to dissapear, then doing the HIDE/SHOW steps I just mentioned, then rolling it back to the end.
Ctrl+q is always something to try, along the way, but from experience, this has not really helped in this situation.
Hope this helps, and please remember to report this issue to your VAR to help with the SPR process.
Have a nice day,
Check your Solid Bodies folder to make sure the actual bodies aren't hidden - they will have a silhouette outline instead of a solid yellow fill. A lot of times a user will click on a face in the model, select the eye glasses icon in the pop up menu (usually by accident) and the body will disappear.
the whole imported body is not showing at all even in the design tree. actually it the surface body that's disappearing
Right click on the name of the model at the top of the tree
Hidden tree items
Name of body
HIDE Solid Body
See attached image
Repeat for SHOW.
You can also set this folder to ALWAYS show in your system options under the catogry FEATURE MANAGER
we still have solidworks 2006 and in the process of converting to 2010. i did what you showed and when i right click on name i don't get hidden tree items
Try Right clicking on the first feature in the tree, after origin.
Perhaps you can find the hide show commands there
thanks for you help, i redownloaded it , hopfully that works. Thanks again
