This week I upgraded our company to Solidworks 2010, this process when smoothly with few exceptions. We (4 users) use a design library to keep common parts that do not require issue control such as nuts and bolts in. We don't use Toolbox because it wasn't (still isn't?) available with entry-level Solidworks - only with SW professional etc. On upgrading one of our users has been having difficulties accessing the library. When he tries to bring a design library part into another part (not assembly) he gets the following error message
" This document was Read Only when opened and may have been in use by someone else. If the file is being used by another user, save will fail. If the file is no longer in use and you save the document with the original name, you will overwrite any changes made by the other user. "
It is correct the the file is read only, this is the stop anyone accidentaly changing the files. No one else gets this error message or has in the past. If you press ok it prompts for a save which always fails. If I make the file not read-only the problem is still there with the same message.
One thing to note, I'm pretty sure this only occurs when accessing the design library from the design library tab on the right-hand side of the screen and can be gotten around by going to Insert-Part-browse to design library on network and select part.
I'd really like to know what is going on as the work around in long winded and frustrating...
