File size can more than double when DimXpert is applied. Are there ways to reduce the size. There is concern that file size will affect the performance of assemblies and drawings.

Joe,
It's pretty common to be concerned about file size, but sometimes this concern is misplaced. Often our friends at SW increase file size in order to speed up operations. I have no idea why DimXpert would increase file size, but I would try some benchmark tests on your files to see if it is a problem.
If you want to play around with reducing file size, try EcoSqueeze, from http://www.ecocom.com/eng/index00.htm
SolidWorks doesn't like people to shrink their file size down, but EcoSqueeze does it nicely.
