I need to move an object around a closed loop. How?
Attached how far I got.
Try adding another path outside or inside and mate the vertex.
Mark can't open up the files (higher version) but did you had any chance to review the animations by Mike J. Wilson
Check these ones:
Curve Driven Animation
Escher's Mobius Strip II
Since Mike's files are in much earlier versions, the animations are lost when you open his SW files. I need an example with path mate and linear motor, 09-10?
I seem to have seen one similar over here on the forum but can't locate it right now.. grrh....
Check the animation listed in these posts if they are of any help:
Re: Motion Study with a Conveyor
Re: Is this animation possible with SolidWorks?
The follow loop animation in the first post requires motion analysis, bummer (I don't have).
From the second post I tried using the distance option with a path mate. Works well until you hit a radiused corner. Then SW doesn't know what to do, or I'm not setting things correctly. Either way, still a no go for me.
Thanks for the suggestions Deepak!
Was hoping there was a quick and easy simple solution someone knew, it doesn't seem like this should be difficult. Come on SW!
How about converting your path to one spline.
Yep, been doing that. Tried an open loop also, with the distance option of the path mate.
Mark, any chance if you can put up the files in step or parasolid format.
Here's a picture. There's only two parts, a block, and a part with a path to follow.
Do you need like this
Yes, that's what I'm looking for.
So how did you accomplish it? Can you share you SW files?
I have added the post if this helps: Motion Along path
OK, part 2 of the problem. I'm having trouble orienting the part as it travels along the path. Video should explain.
That did the trick, thanks.
