I have a large assembly which has no.of parts and sub asemblies.I want to create opposite hand version of the assembly and open the mirrored version as new assembly.
Generally when we use insert,mirror components;all the components being mirrored showing the both right and left hand version.Hope there should be a way for this in solid works.
You can mirror your assembly and break the link but then you loose all your mates.
We have been asking for the functionality of creating a opposite hand assembly with all the mates for years.
I think what you are telling is for parts, but in assemblies when we use mirror componants i don't find any option like braek the link with the original asm.
There is an option to not create external references. This only helps if during the creation of your mirror, I don't think it would have any effect after the fact.
I attached a snapshot. The problem is when you dissolve the mirror you lose all the mates to the mirrored components.
One workaround is to create a new configuration, where you would have to manually hide / exclude from BOM the original parts. If you want to keep the primary assembly uncluttered, change the properties of the primary configuration to hide / suppress new components, before you mirror the assembly.
