Just wondering if there is an application that would allow us to layout drawings from different files on the same sheet of paper (using a large plotter). At this time, when printing B-size and C-size drawings, a lot of paper is wasted.
Try searching for 'nesting prints' or 'nested printing', this is the terminology you're looking for. We once nested all our prints when we were creating lots of drawings, it would nest drawings side by side, or re-orient them perpendicular to each other as required. We've since changed plotter, hardware and software. We don't print very much now, so we longer have the feature installed. I might be wrong but I think it was a separate piece of software which controlled this.
PS I've just looked at our HP 800 plotter, it has a nesting option, although it does not rotate any pages.
You could save them as PDF and use a free program like GIMP to arrange them into a larger format, or pay for the pro version of adobe and you can combine PDFs into a larger sheet.
Could you make a huge page as a template you can type in like 600in x 44in and then import the pre-made sheets and place them in the drawing - I am not sure if that will work but it sounds like it might...
Have been told no in the past by others and Vars, my answer is...but Pro/E can do it...........HA
Don't print B-sized drawings on a plotter. They should be printed on a tabletop laser printer. Much cheaper.
Both C and D size drawings can be printed on 22" width paper with no waste.
Use both sides of the paper...
Thanks a lot!
