i have a model made in catia, and saved as "xxxxx.model"

You can't open that file directly, you'll have to use some translator and convert that file sin iges, parasolid and then import in SW.

I believe UG can handle .model files.
i tried in proe wildfire,it also supports .model files
but it gives me a error Cannot activate PRO_FROM_CAT utility.

You can do a trial download to try before you buy.
We are using the DATAKit add-in option with SW2010 to bring Catia V5 or earlier.
Adobe Acrobat Professional Extended version 9 (phew, that is a mouthful) is the best software to do the conversion.
