Selecting the correct ....

surface, edge, line, axes, plane....etc.

I have noticed what seems to be an unexplained perponderance for SW 2009 to select the most obsucred "feature" when trying to setup mates or measure things.  I noticed this extensively when "left-clicking" in an assembly for some reason I often end up with an edge that is not even visible on the screen at the time.   I can move the mouse around slightly and sometimes get the same "feature" again.  It may just be my perception but is SW actually trying to assist me in selecting "features" that are not visible?  My previous experience with SW 2006 at a former employer did not seem to have this type of behavior.  It may just be what it is, but sure seems like there may have been a software functionality change between 2006 and 2009.  We have 2010 here but are in the middle of a design project and are waiting to upgrade until that is over so I have no comment on that version. I really dont like using the selection filter tool but have learned that at times its necessary.
