How can I create a plane along a curved object? I need to put one hole on each end, thanks.
I have attached the file with two planes, one on the inside and one on the outside. This is what I think you were looking for, if not my bad.
If you right click on one of the planes and edit feature, you can manipulate the up/down arrows for the degrees to have it change location.
I also added a third plane which is another method I have used in the past. I created a sketch and then you have an easier to understand angle to manipulate via the sketched line. then I insert reference plane and select the endpoint and the perpendicular option.
Hope this helps.
select a reference plane, Top, Front, or Right. hold ctrl and in the model area select and drag the plane so it makes a copy, then select the surface. it will make the copied plane tangent and then you will need to adjust the degrees. Hope this works.
No, It did not work for me. When I select the side of the part curved for a plane it works, but it won't work with the top of the part, does anyone know why? thanks.
Why not just offset your Front plane a bit and create your cut holes as Revolved features? (There are other simple ways to handle this, too, but it has to do with creating your initial geometry to be more easily lined up with your main planes, etc.)
