Hello,
I'm trying to set a spline tangent to an offset entity. When I try, I get an error that the sketch is unsolvable. Also, the spline handle disappears. Check out the attached file.
Thanks
Sam

I created a 3 point spline away from the offset entity, activated the handle, and then made the endpoints coincident. From there I made the handle tangent with the curve and that seemed to work…
When I drag the spline end-point to the end of the offset entity, the handle disappears. I can't select the endpoint of the offset entity on its own. (Sometimes I can, but most of the time it selects the whole offset.) I even try using the selection filter...
If I delete the offset relation, I can then drag the spline to the offset, and hit 'tangent'. But, the spline handle still disappears...
That’s why I created the spline away from the arc because I too would lose the handle if I dragged the endpoints together. Like I said, after I created the spline, I activated the handle and moved it to an arbitrary position so when I made the endpoints coincident (ctrl-select) it would not disappear. Once I had the two points together I made the handle itself and not the spline tanget.
I offset your original curve - made the offset entity a construction line. I also added your "mid-point" to the offset line.
From there, I created the splin through the three points, ending at the non-construction curve. I then added the tangent relation and attached was the result.
It generates a pretty wild curve due to the curvature of the second arc. I'm not sure if that's the result you're looking for.
Your other option, is offset the construction line. Then pick the points thru the first and second arc, allowing it to smooth on it's own, then you can go back and add tangency if needed. Given the arc provided the tangent is way out there - which is no where close to your end point from the offset original arc.
Not sure if that helped, but you can see what was done.
Why not just use the offset tool to offset the construction geometry spline?
