I am thinking of getting this system, will this run SW ok and things like realview?
You won't not have real view option. I think this computer is quite good, but only if you change the grapshics card to Nvidia QUADRO FX. Chose some model which suits your financial situation.
I have Quadro FX 580 on my desktop (i7 920, 12 GB RAM) and it's working perfect, not expensive.
Here is the link to the products:
You can also have some of ATI's FireGL models.
Since it does not have an approved SolidWorks video card (Quadro or FireGL/FirePro) it will not run Realview.
The rest for the components are fine for running SolidWorks.
Not sure how valid that document from Nvidia is compared to current differences between Quadros and GeForce cards. It was published in 2003. That is ancient in terms of current video card technology.
On a general concept level I would suspect most all the arguments still hold on why you want to get a workstation class video card over a consumer/gamer card.
