The ultimate question. When I'm installing SolidWorks, should I turn off the anti-virus software? SolidWorks Corp will tell you "NO!", but your VAR will tell you "YES!". Where's the truth? "It depends."
Some anti-virus software is smart enough to leave SW alone during an install. However, many are not. What underminds SolidWorks Corp's stance on leaving anti-virus software in place is the Knowledgebase itself. It doesn't take long to find known problems that are attributed to having anti-virus software running during the installation. I just recently did an install with SolidWorks 2010 2.1 with Symantec installed and running. Guess what? Issues! I turned off the anti-virus software and repaired my solidworks install. Guess what? Issued disappeared.
What are your experiences, one way or the other?
