I have a very large assembly that is killing my computer. I would like to make a simple part file out of this that is usable. In Inventor I used a command called shrinkwrap to turn an assembly into a part file. It also removed internal features and patched holes reducing the file size. I know in solidworks I can save an assy as a part file but is there a tool that works similar to what Inventor has?

Have you tried SpeedPak? It doesn't create a separate part file, but it creates a simplified configuration within the assembly file. See help topic SpeedPak http://help.solidworks.com/2010/english/SolidWorks/sldworks/DITATopics/AllContent/SolidWorks/Core/Assemblies/c_SpeedPak_OH.htm?id=53f1011f045c45ccb6640051466136c7#Pg0
