I made this design table another day and when I opened it today I can't open my design table. It acts like there isn't even one there but I can see it. If I right click on it, it treats it like it's a folder. Anyone know what's going on?

One of the first we encountered in SW2010. Try re-installing your Excel application first. If your using Excel 2007 then you can run the Microsoft Office Diagnostics tool located in your Start menu. It's has already been recognised as an issue with a fix promised in SP3.0
Well...fixing it in SP3.0 didn't happen. We are running 2010 SP3.1 and are facing the same problem all morning. I agree with the poster below who said SW should stop creating all the new features and fix the ones they have first. We've come to start calling it Solid-Almost-Works around here...what a pain...so much so that management has talked about looking for a different 3D package.

Monty, I am having the same issue, it's in SolidWorks, anyone who tells you different hasn't experienced your problem. I have 8 raw material parts that I use design tables on, that I been using since SW 2007 with 0 issues. But since going to 2010 one of them I have lost the design table 3 times, it says it's there but it won't let you create it. Luckily I back up my files consitently and I have been able to rescue my Data. And it's nothing to do with your solidworks or MS office instalation because once it's gone it's gone, and other people in my office cannot edit it either from their computer.
The only solution I have found is to do like the other guy and just back up your design table to excel and reinport it. For once, I would like to see a SW release with no new featers, just fix the ones you have!

Everytime I have seen this problem I have ran "Detect and Repair' from the help menu of Excel. Granted I've had to do this a number of times so I also believe the problem is in SW and not Excel but since I started running that I haven't lost a design table completely.
Also I am running Excel 2003 and don't even know if 2007 has this feature but it might be worth looking for. Just make sure you don't change the defaults otherwise it is likely to erase all of your settings in all of your Microsoft programs (got me with Outlook).

Here's what has worked for me in SW14:
I recommend you save the design table, from now on,in a separate place locally like C:/SolidWorksDesignTables so that next time (and there will be a next time, I promise) you will be able to go right to the one you want without needing to screw around with your company's server.
Well, when I wrote the above it worked repeatedly. Today, it won't work at all.
I think I've the same problem. when I try to edit the design table a message appears telling me "the design table is made using excel 2007 and can't open in 2007". I'm working on SW2010 sp2.1 and excel 2007
Tried office diagnose, but it didn't help. Attached the error message
