External Cosmetic Thread

My company is having a hard time adding external threads to a shaft. Everytime we click on the cosmetic thread optino the hourglass appears and never goes away. I have tried this on a simple part where I made a .50 diameter shaft 1 in long and then tried to add the cosmetic thread. I went to Insert > Annotations > Cosmetic Thread and then clicked. After that the PC is lokced up. This only seems to be an issue with our 64 bit machines. The 32 bit machines seem to function fine.
