In a weldment, is there anyway that you choose specified weldment piece to show as hidden line in a drawing? Like if i just want a specific plate to show as hidden lines and not everything in my weldment. Has anyone tried this?
Display states are available for parts in 2010. I think the only way to do this is using component line font - either export all weldment bodies to an assembly file, and then create a view using that (insert orginal weldment file drawing view to maintain functionality of cut list etc) and then use component line font, or alternatively select all edges of body you want in hidden lines.
The only way I have figured out how to do this is to create 2 configurations. One with all the peices you want to show and one with only the peice you want as hidden. Then when you detail it do a view of just the first configuration and then do another view of the second configuration. You can then set the line font for that view to be hidden. You will have to align the views after. It's not pretty but it can work.
I know this is an older thread but there was never a decisive option found. What I've been doing is leaving the weldment as HLR and then do a RMB->"Select Other", get the face you want (inside face of a c-channel for instance), now goto your sketch tab/toolbar and select "convert entities". Now that you have sketch lines tied to your members you can change those line types to dashed or phantom or whatever you require.
Could you do this by using Display States in the model and then using that Display State for your view?
Just a guess as I do use Display States or Weldments.
Cheers,
Anna
Jan,
You could try changing the component line font.
