Is there a way to simulate Pin support (restraint) in Simulation, (Solid or Beam models)
I have gone through all the restraints and have been able to find one; I would assume the beam element type should have it.
Hello, you may find what you are looking for in the Solidworks Help files under the item "Apply/Edit Beam." This article talks about making one end of a beam (its joint) set to be a hinge (no moments transferred). I think this is what you are looking for.
In your simulation tree, navigate to the part you want to put the pin (hinge) support on, Right-click and select "Edit Definition."
You're off to the races! You will want to refer to the help file if you are to make sense of the "manual" setting. It may take some trial and error to see if you applied the definition correctly.
Good Luck, and I hope you win,
I did and was not satisfied with the results. I believe the moment would be zero at the pin restraint, using any one of the restraints in simulation will tend to induce a moment at the location. There are ways of working around it; I just wanted to know if simulation had a pin restraint option
Hi, Thanks for the response, this was exactly what I was looking for.
