Hi yesterday I went to add in the details of a particular material into a custom slot in the materials list, only the first option threw me a bit; Model type, default it comes up as linear elastic isotropic but... the other options mean nothing to me!! Whats the answer?? if anyone else has created a custom material of 'latamid' please let me know.
A large number of the options for material properties are related to mechanical properties required for FEA. Model type is how the material behaves when subjected to forces.
If you are only about getting a name for a material, then copy a similar material (ie plastic for plastic, steel for steel). A lot of the mechanical properties will only be slightly wrong for the material and if you never do FEA, then this should never be an issue. If someone skilled does FEA on your part in the future, then their first step should be to confirm all material properties.
I would change the density though, as mass calculations are quite common.
