I hope this is the right place to post this but it's geared towards people who handle SolidWorks support and training and have to utilize screen recording.  While there are dozens of tools available for free or licensed a good portion of those rely on propietary CODEC's and also are required to go through some sort of post processing resulting in huge files that require a user to install a CODEC or player.

Available from Microsoft Technet is a utility called Screenrecorder.  This is a great little tool for handling full screen recording or just application specific recording.  It utilizes the Windows Media Encoder and it's output is WMV.  This means that every user of a Windows box is able to view the files without downloading or installing anything.  It also means that the files are incredibly tiny.  From using it for a while I've seen a 1 minute video at 1920x1200 with SolidWorks models open and moving come out to under 500KB.  The files are small enough to email.
