Perhaps this will get you started:
It is possible to reserve particular features for particular PC's using an ‘options’ file. This is described in the chap5.htm of the FlexLM help found in <SNL install directory>\ Docs\flexuser For example to reserve a SolidWorks license for use on a PC called host_name 1. First, create a file called sw_d.opt. 2. In this file add a line : RESERVE 1 SOLIDWORKS HOST host_name (where host name is the name of the PC on the network. ) 3. Put the sw_d.opt file in the same folder as the sw_d.lic file : ..\ <SNL install directory>\licenses 4. Open the SolidNetwork License Manager and from the Adminstration tab Stop the service. When the SolidNetwork License Manager restarts the options file will be read. The log file should then report that the sw_d.opt file has been read and any features affected will be reported. e.g. 10:30:05 (SW_D) Using options file: "C:\Program Files\2006 SNL Manager\licenses\sw_d.opt" 10:30:06 (SW_D) Server started on server1 for: solidworks 10:30:06 (SW_D) RESERVING 1 solidworks/0022 84BE 2640 DE4C license for HOST host_name Amongst many other things it is also possible to exclude users/hosts from accessing features using the Options file.
Will what you suggested work for a GROUP(multiple users) rather than a HOST (PC)?
That is in fact what I am looking to do but not for a specific machine, but rather a specific group of users I have identified in the sw_d.opt file.
I was able to see in the "log" file of the SNL Administrator that I have reserved a license of "SolidWorks" for a particular group.....but my only question would be does this action make sure that there is a "qty" of licenses reserved for this group, or does it only allow this group to access one license?
