Gary -
This doesn't answer your question directly, but maybe...
See SPR#531145 - I have problems using extended gauge tables with Vista64 / SW09 SP5 and SW10 SP2. Ordinary gauge tables are working good for me with both SW09 and SW10.
I'm using Office 2007. Maybe that's the difference?
I've attached my gauge tables if you want to see if it might be a spread sheet problem.
My VAR pointed me to this...
The cause of the problem has been reported to development under SPR 535617. A correction will be implemented in SolidWorks 2010 SP3, but the fix is preventative. If affected, please repair your Microsoft Office/Excel installation to correct the problem. This will restore the OLE registration of *.xls files."
I ran the repair and now all things Excel/SW are working in both XLS and XLSX in both SW09 and SW10.
