I can't insert a BOM table into a drawing and save the drawing as a drawing template in SW2007. Is this still the case with later releases of SWorks?
drawing templates do not store BOM tables. It basically does not store any models. So no models implies no BOM. Take a look at the attached picture showing error/warning message.
Iam currently using SW08.
Though I'm using SW09 but believe that even SW2010 doesn't have the option to have BOM in the drawing template. For putting up a BOM you need to have a view in the drawing for the reference and as you can't have a view in the drawing you can't have BOM.
BTW if I can ask what is your specific requirement to have BOM in the drawing template.
Thanks for the replies.
My specific requirement is that I have many assembly drawings to create, they will all have a BOM table in the same position on the drawing sheet.
What is the quickest way to do this? Should I record a macro? (I can't create a new one, I don't know VB)
You can place an anchor point for the BOM.
Tony's solution is the best and recommended one to use.
