Does this option only work with "indented" type BOMs? I don't see the point behind this option because I can already dissolve an assembly in a BOM if it is of type "indented". I do see this as working if the BOM is of type "top level only" but I never got it to work this way.
Promote option works with 'Indented' type BOM.
Children are put one level up to the sub-assembly.
I tested and works fine.
I'm not sure if I understand this. I was able to get it to work correctly. But I have a more complex assembly that I tried this on and it didn't work. I attached a file that shows this working as expected.
Promote
Dissolves the subassembly in the BOM and shows its child components, even if the BOM Type would not normally show them.
For example, a Top-level Only BOM usually lists just the subassembly and not its child components.
If Promote is selected, the child components are listed and the subassembly is not.
Hi Chad,
Assemblies only.
1) Show option - Child components might be listed individually in the BOM, depending on the BOM properties you selected when you created the BOM.
2) Hide option - The sub-assembly appears as a single item in the BOM.
3) Promote option - The assembly's configuration dissolves when it appears in a BOM. All of its child components are promoted one level.
