first thing I don't like about 2010 is you can't exit a sketch by double clicking off in space... according to SW "this is the intended behavior and it has been fixed in 2010" what gives!
yes, I know I can mouse gesture and all that.. but man
I am testing SW2010 SP2.0EV. On my system SW does exit the sketch when you double click empty space outside the sketch.
When I have Instant 3d selected I can exit the sketch by double clicking on nothing in the graphics area. When Instant 3d is deselected I can't do this.
yup... "The ability to double click to edit and exit a sketch was introduced in SolidWorks 2008. The intention was that it should only work when Instant3D was active. However, it also functioned when Instant3D was off. Users that did not use Instand3D found it frustrating as they would exit the sketches unintentionally by double clicking. The intended behaviour was implemented in SolidWorks 2010."
I ask this: what difference does it make if I'm using Instant3D!!?? just frustrating that I get used to doubleclick and now I can't
Oh wow! I didn't even notice that! Thanks for pointing that out! That was one of the Great Annoyances of 2009 if you ask me. Didn't realize it was a bug. Glad it's fixed tho.
That sucks that they removed it i loved it and I dont like to use instant 3d so now i will either have to have instant 3d on or live without double click.
They should have just made it an option to have it on or not.
No! It's good that it's gone? Why, you may be inclined to ask?
Because when I'm trying like mad to select the edge of a cylinder so that I can Convert it into a sketch entity, I invariably end up clicking quickly enough to trigger a double-click. Granted, if SW would just let me select the edge to begin with that wouldn't be a problem.....
This is wonderful news. I was unaware that it was a bug. I thought it was intended functionality.
I am glad that I cannot double click out of a sketch. That kept happening, and it was frustrating!
I have a shortcut key for exit sketch. It is the same as my shortcut key for create sketch. It is CTRL-E.
Also note that everyone has a shortcut key for exit sketch, it is CTRL-B.
I turned off mouse gestures. I accidentally kept using those, too.
I will keep them in mind when I finally get to use a touchscreen/stylus.
Since I leave Instant3D on all the time, I can always double click out of sketch. Absolutely love this option. I doubt it was a bug but more like unintentionally behaving software that users didn't always understand so they "fixed" it.
Actually, unless I'm editing an existing sketch I always just hit the Feature I want or use my "S" shortcut.
