When starting SolidWorks 2009 Premium (SP 5.0), I received a Runtime Error message, then SolidWorks exits without completing the launch. I am using Win XP Pro x64 (64-bit) as an OS with 4GB RAM, and an NVidia Quadro FX 2500M (512MB) video card.
I suspect the problem was somehow linked to MS Outlook 2007 as it recently crashed. MS Office diagnostics did not detect any problems with MS Outlokk, and SW Rx (Checkdisk & defrag) did not fix the problem with SW. Any ideas how MS Outlook 2007 could have caused SW to crash?
I just rebooted, and executed a Checkdisk during the boot-up to fix any problems that could be present on the hard drive before launching Windows. After logging in, I was able to launch SW without the error message or crash, and now it seems to be working normally again. Also, MS Outlook is not crashing either. Normally, I defrag once a week, so it should not be related to fragmented files.
Hopefully this solved the problem. Does anyone know what would have caused the Runtime Error during a launch of SW, and how to prevent it from occuring again in the future?
