I can't make a weldment library feature that works. I can edit an existing one and it works. Any suggestions or is this a problem?
2009 solidworks sp 4.1
Yes I do, inside the dimensions folder there are 2 folders, locating dimensions, internal dimensions. But there is nothing inside the folders.
Nothing inside the references folder.
That worked, thanks for the help, I just couldn't figure it out.
I appreciate the help.
either highlight the sketch in the browser and do save as .sldlfp or make sure you are editing the sketch when you save as .sldlfp. It is a little quirky.
The green L should appear in front of the sketch in the browser when you do this.
Creating library features requires an exact sequence.
You must have the sketch selected (e.g. highlighted) in the FM before you save to .sldlfp
So ... until you get the hang of it, open an existing library feature that is close to what you need, then "Save As" for your new feature.
Thanks for the info, but I tried that and it still didn't work. I have used the solution mentined above and it worked.
I realize this is an older link, but I had a similar problem. Followed the instructions perfectly, still wouldn't work. Rebooted a few times, still wouldn't get it. When previously looked at my weldment file locations under tools->options->system tab, I had two locations listed of where I had my weldment profiles located (neither the default). I had been saving the new sketches in the file location at the top, assuming that SW starts searching there when they give you the "Move Up/Move Down" options. When I deleted the second location (lower), suddenly SW was finding the new profiles. Not sure if this is fixed in SW 2011, I'm on 2010 SP 5.0 with elecworks option added. Hope this helps someone out in the future.
Welcome to SW forums Rick
I haven't seen such issue in SW2010 or SW2011. There can be an issue that the file location might not had been added to search path (though this should not effect the functionality) or some issue with SolidWorks registry.
