I am having this same issue. I save it as a csv then resave
it as a excell file. The way you described does not have the column
headers. I don't see how Solidworks is missing this. Or am I the
one missing something.

hi,
Sorry my stupid question, but... How export a BOM to excell?
I have read in another topic it's select the BOM and make save as.
I do that but, the only extensions that I can save as it's
"slbomtbt", "txt" and "csv". What I am doing wrong?
Other thing... I am using one program in my company to
control the production. This program use fundamentals of MRP. When
I inserted the pieces on this program, he give me one number. Now,
I like to give this number to the "number Item" and "baloon" in the
drawing to we can identify her. It's that possible wihout make
manually in witch drawing?
Note: same parts are shared in different assembly's ( our
produtcs) and I want they have the same numbers in this different
assembly's.
Try exporting BOM as text file and then import into excel. I
have had better luck with that. Also if you can export directly to
excel using SolidWorks API calls. That is the easiest of all.
Highlight the bom, go to the property manager and hit the bom
contents button.
Pick the far left cell of item 1, then hold down the shift
and pick the far left cell of the last item in the bom. This should
highlight the entire bom in black. Do a CTRL-C on the keyboard,
then open excell and do a CTRL_V. It will paste the entire bom into
excell, all you need to do is clean up the column widths.
OKSWtree will easily do that for you. You can create a
complete Excel BOM from an assembly with one click. Go to
www.oksoftcorp.com today and download OKSWtree
