In alot our assy we need to show A/R as qty (as required) we
use excel based BOMs, sure you can edit it but refreash and it
comes back qty 1.
how do you permanently make this stick?

One way is to create another qty in your BOM table. Like,
call the colum .qty ie. put a full stop at the start of qty so it
is different to the real one. Then add the .qty to the properties
in configuraion specific in the part.
hope this helps! We do this type of thing all the
time!
David,
We control the specific quantity for 3 different types of
parts using 3 different units of measure.
Hydraulic Fluids in CCs
Rubber in LBS
Wire Rope in INCHES
AR or As Required could be handled in a similar fashion. The
attached files define how we manage our bulk items using Excel
based BOMs

hi Divid i think you must exclusively use excel base bill of
material.
So by useing this you can creat any no. for the assigned bom.

The way I worked around this was to assign properties to the
parts that require the special qty & write Excel formulas to
create the value based on the property.
You have to hide the columns that you don't want to display.
Hope this helps.
We have two colums for the qty the one that is auto generated by SW this is the count of the item and we have another that is used with an automation system in purchasing and accounting and we call it amount. In the BOM we added a colum with the heading Amount and in the information summary under custom we have an area that is filled in by the drafter for the Amount. We found out that adding the second column worked out for our needs maybe its something that would work for you
