Is there a way to autmatically explode an assembly and/or drawing view"
There used to be, many years ago, but it was removed. The problem with it was it would explode in the order that parts were inserted into the assembly. It created some nasty looking exploded views.
The current explode feature, though time consuming on larger assemblies, is much nicer. If you have sub-assemblies involved, you can explode them and then reuse said explosion in the upper level assembly. As far as I know, there is no way to have an exploded drawing view without first having the assembly exploded.
Start an exploded view in assembly. Select all components, set Explode direction and distance. Hit apply and done.
Under options in the explode view manager, you can select and set
Auto-space components after drag. Automatically spaces a group of components equally along an axis.
Adjust the spacing between chain components . Adjusts the distance between components placed by Auto-space components after drag.
