Hello,
We plan to convert 2 of our 3 SW single-user (standalone) licenses to SNL. We have no SNL at the moment. One of the SW that we want to convert to SNL has no subscription service. The other one has subscription service that ends 2010-04-30.
We do not plan to opt for subscription service for the new SNL (which is not required - see SNL FAQ).
What will be total cost of this conversion ?
Our local VAR insists we need to extend/purchase subscription service for both standalone SW licenses so that they expire at the same time, at the end of 2010 and so that we need to pay the following:
(1) License server fee (~2000 EUR)
(2) 7 month extension fee for subscription service for SW license with subscription service until 2010-04-30.
(3) 1 year subscription service fee for SW license with no subscription service.
I think it is incorrect.
In case we will not opt for subscription service for the new SNL, I suppose it will be just 2 times the "Conversion Seat fee", as stated in the "AGREEMENT TO CONVERT SINGLE-USER LICENSES TO SOLIDNETWORK LICENSES" document:
... Conversion Seat fee ... for each license converted to a network license
The same document states:
If the SolidNetWork License is a new license, all converted licenses must be made coterminous with a new Subscription Service expiration date. The new expiration date would be the farthest date out on any of the existing standalone licenses
but there is no word about having to pay for subscription service, just the Conversion Seat fee:
DS SolidWorks and/or Reseller shall invoice Current User the Conversion Seat fee and Current User agrees to pay such invoice within thirty (30) days of receipt.
SNL FAQ - subscription service not required:
Question: Is SolidWorks Subscription Service required for SolidNetWork
License (SNL)?
Answer: No, the SolidNetWork License does not require subscription service.
However, the benefits of subscription service (software upgrades, access to
Knowledge Base, etc.) will not be available.
Thank you for your time and I'm looking forward to any comments.
