Is anyone seeing additional mouse picks trying to edit cells in the bom in 2010. I'm using Vista 64 & Windows 7 64 bit and on both of them it takes twice as many mouse picks to edit the cells as it did in 2009 & previous versions. I have to double pick on the cell to select it then either double pick the cell AGAIN or pick/drag to select the text to edit. It used to be that the text was highlighted when you initially double picked the cell. These additional mouse picks with each new version are becoming a real PITFW. I thought we were trying to reduce the number of work related RSI injuries but someone at SW must not have gotten the memo or the notice got lost in the mail.
I noticed that, too, John. It seems to be a change that affects all tables because it's bugging me mostly in Revision Tables. I still can't get used to having the contents of the cell NOT all selected when I double click on the cell. I used to just dbl click then start typing in replacement text. Now I have to manually delete the existing contents or manually select it for replacement.
I suppose the new way is easier if you just want to modify the existing text, and the old way is easier if you want to completely replace the existing text, which is usually what I need to do.
The best solution would be to have a switch in the options so everyone can choose their preferred method. Easy to find, clearly labeled, well documented switch in the options, that is...
editing solidworks tables changed in 2010. once you get used to it it is (usually) less clicks.
try single click to highlight the cell and then start typing - it should replace the existing text.
also arrow keys now move you from cell to cell, and return goes down a cell.

your right, I should have said, "more details on the new table editing choices are in the help."

I find the behavior the same on both BOM and General Tables. It goes like this ...
This only applies to using the mouse for editing the tables. If you are already editing a cell in any table then you must first click to exit editing the cell before you can edit in another. That click may exit you from your current edit AND select another cell in any table but will not count towards a double-click in the newly selected cell. If you are not editing a cell, then a simple double-click will allow you to directly edit the cell. The only difference is the Keep/Break dialog box which pops immediately before a Custom Property linked cell enters the edit mode. Double-clicking inside the edit mode only selects one word and does not allow extending the selection on double-click drag.
